Watch your world fill in.

Your walks, photos, workouts and trips, laid out as twenty thousand tiny dots. Country, region, area, neighborhood. Every place you've ever been.

01 The idea

Every walk, every photo, every trip you've taken left a mark somewhere. stipple. finds them all, and paints them onto a map made of dots, so you can finally see the shape of your life.

0Regions worldwide, each one a badge waiting to fill
0Landmarks to tick off: UNESCO sites, parks, peaks, islands, stadiums
0Metro systems, every line and every station

02 How it fills in

Your past is already on your phone.

stipple. reads where things happened, never what's in them, and lights up every place you can prove you've been.

01

Walk it

Start a walk and watch neighborhoods fill in as you enter them. High-accuracy location only while recording; motion sensors filter out the bus ride home.

02

Your photos

Ten years of pictures, located in seconds. stipple. reads only the place and the date. Tens of thousands of photos, not one of them opened.

03

Workouts

Runs, hikes, rides and ski days from Apple Health or Health Connect, route and all. A tennis match without a route is placed by the photos you took there.

04

Old timelines

Bring in your Google Timeline, Snapchat or Instagram exports, and years of forgotten places light up in one go.

05

Mark the rest

That summer before smartphones? Tap the places you remember, add a date and a photo, and they join the map like any other.

03 Four levels deep

From a country down to your street.

Every country splits into regions, areas and neighborhoods, from bundled maps and detail packs compiled right on your phone. Fill one in completely and it's yours: a badge, earned dot by dot.

11 Questions

Good to know.

Does stipple. drain my battery?

No. High-accuracy location runs only while you're recording a walk. Otherwise it uses a low-power stream on the Record tab and, only if you turn it on, the system's own low-power place updates. Motion filtering runs on the phone's motion coprocessor.

Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?

Never. stipple. reads each photo's location and date on your phone. When you color a place with a picture, the colors are sampled locally too.

Does it work offline and abroad?

Yes. Countries and regions are bundled with the app. Detail packs for areas and neighborhoods download once per country (automatically for home and anywhere you visit) and then work offline.

Can I bring my Google Maps Timeline?

Yes, along with Snapchat and Instagram "Download my data" exports. They're streamed piece by piece, so even huge media-heavy archives import smoothly.

What happens if I switch phones?

Automatic backups run in the background and a fresh install offers to restore the newest one before you even start. You can also back up and restore by hand from Settings.

Is there a dark mode?

Of course: paper by day, ink by night. The map, widgets, share cards and films each have their own light and dark look. Try the switch at the top of this page.
